One of Sweden’s finest doom acts, Saturnalia Temple, is back! It’s been five years since the release of the last album “To The Other” and so the newest release “Gravity”, out on 21st February, has been highly anticipated.

“Gravity” comes with eight songs and will set the mood and make you shiver right from the start with Tordyvel. From then on, the darkness will captivate you and pull you further into the unknown and the void. The overall pace of the album is slow, containing the ultimate doom, the spiritual atmosphere and mostly the amazing delay-effects such as in one of the highlights, Saturnalia Temple. Combined with the strong vocals as well as the instrumental arrangements, the album is a delight to hear but there are also a lot of elements to take. With a well-crafted composition and production, it flows from the beginning to the end, leaving no dull moment and a lot of space to think and to meditate. So don’t be afraid to go on a journey, fellow listeners.

One fascinating highlight is the fact that each song carries some sort of simplicity and revolves around a few riffs/melodies with some nice twists such as the experimental/instrumental touches (Between The Worlds) or guitar solos or atmospheric elements (Bitter Taste). This simplicity, however, is hypnotizing and dark in a way that you will get into a trance right away. I also loved the fact that “Gravity” got darker towards the end, coming to a full circle or to a completion with the last song Alpha Drakonis.

After listening to this release many many times, I can proudly say that “Gravity” is well worth the wait and already in my list of the best of this year. From the length of the release to the production and composition, it is full perfection that it is quite hard for me to choose a favorite. Fans of doom/fuzz/stoner genres as well as spiritual concepts, get this album and get ready to fly high.
