Popol Ace & Kork – Silently Loud

Label: Grappa Records
Releasedate:
01-11-2019

Popol Ace is a Norwegian Progrock formation that had their fame in the 70’s. At some point, about 15 years ago they were doing live shows with KringkastingOrkestret (Kork). A DVD was released back then but anno 2019 they want to revive the colaboration by releasing the material also in a cd and a vinyl.

The orcherstra has great effect on the music. You have to do some research to the music of Popol Ace to understand how this liveshow is adding to the experience. Bombastic and dramatic. A little crazy, that “Queen of all Queens” has a rather funky side to it. It is ending the release and let the audience leave with a smile. But it is such a contrast with “For Eternity” which has that calm and serene start. It grows in passion during the song to have the beauty of it grow to epic proportions. Vocals you won’t miss here, an instrumental piece to enjoy. But the band can also give you a more rock and roll version of themselves, for example “Leavin’ Chicago” is a bit more raw, there you see Popol Ace more on the lead.

It is easy to understand why it was chosen to re-release this material. It shows a band that had an iconic night there and together with Kork the leverage is making this release one that many would love to have in their collection.
