Venue: De Kade, Zaandam (Netherlands)

The German progressive rock band RPWL was playing in Zaandam (Netherlands). The band is on an anniversary tour and had several dates in The Netherlands and Germany programmed.

The band started their set quite calm and modest. The band brought video animation which brought an interesting add to their show. This seems as a perfect back up as the band self is not the most active on stage as the music doesn’t require that either. Several times, the audience showed their appreciation for the set list with some cheering as soon as a song was announced or the first notes were played. “Breathe in, Breath Out”, played early in their set is one example of that, but it is clear the audience knows most of their songs pretty well. Most of the songs played were coming from their 2005 album “World Through My Eyes” and their 2008 release “The RPWL Experience”.

Although the band is celebrating their anniversary, they had to find another bassist to perform these shows as Chris Postl had to leave the band due personal reasons. Wender Taus was joining in for this duty and the audience seem to appreciate him. The songs are built with several sound effects giving the band that unique face they have creating during the past ten years and with the warm vocals of Yogi Lang there is the basis of this intensive live experience. Over two hours they claimed the stage and the audience their attention which seem to work out perfectly. They did not let the band go without an encore which started some more acoustic. But in the grand finale they gave it all. A powerful performance of this band, being around for ten years and as it seems the audience wouldn’t mind another ten years to add to that at least.
