Supports: Steed; Venue: Tivoli de Helling, Utrecht (Netherlands)

While the festival season is hot and going, some Britpop bands going into the venue to gave a concert. Steed supported the Belgian act Customs.
Steed is coming from The Netherlands and when they started playing quite some people had gathered in the venue already. The band seemed to be in a good mood tonight and got the show going straight away. No hard effort in trying to get the audience, just do what they want to do. Here and there some keys get included, or here and there some other instruments strengthening their sound. The band brought melodic elements to the stage giving the audience a good set that is easy to pick up. The band have recently released their album “A Curious Case Of Countless Clues” and played some songs from that. A good support act for this evening.
Despite the lovely weather, Tivoli was pretty much full when Customs were entering the stage. Customs are a younger band, they started in 2008 but nevertheless seem to break through to bigger crowds. Their music seems slower and more intimate than what came from their support. The Belgians are a band that starts a bit laid back, with a bit distance feeling and then let you come closer, introduce you the essence of their music and before you know you are stuck into it and you have to keep listening because the music grows and grows towards that climax that comes at the end of their set.
What was strong of their live performance was the combination of the vocals with the guitars. Kristof (vocals, guitar) and Jelle (guitar) seem to be a good team. Interesting band, that we might see at the bigger festivals in future.<
