Weightless World is Modern Melodic Metal formation that has their base in Finland and was founded in 2011. The band released their album “The End of Beginning” recently.
With these raw voices Finland has another Melodic Death formation amongst them. Starting their album with “Savior” the band is setting you up with a good introduction to their sound. A sound that has versatile sides, the vocals as well as the entire song can variate from a deep intense part toward a highly energetic one. A song like “Fat Lady” is for example a bit more aggressive, having the focus also a bit more on the riffs rather than the voice taking up spotlights. Those are also very well to be heard in “Tides” although that song seems to be more one that builds up the tension before releasing it all. Then opposite to that you have a track like “Dragon’s Fire” which has a more commercial touch, chart material perhaps.
The band seems to have a clear view on what they want to bring and explore all ways of doing so. What bind the different sides together is the fact that there always seem to be a sort of transition into it. Something recognizable.
Weightless World has released a fine album that shows they are ready to break towards a larger audience. Sure you’ll find some recognizable moments here and there, but above all the band is working on themselves. One to follow.
