Sarke – Gastwerso

Label: Indie Recordings
Releasedate:
01-11-2019

Sarke is Norwegian band making Black Metal with various influences. The band released a new album called “Gastwerso” is available now.

Sarke’s albums have always pleased me well so seeing a new one in the mail certainly got me enthusiastic. Putting it on, first track I was having a Satyricon feel in my head with it, maybe mixed with some Celtic Frost. Not strange seeing the line up, but still it appears more than ever before.

From second song on you start to hear Sarke in it again. Their slow rhythms are giving you a comfortable discomfort. The keys are giving the sound its face. When the songs are growing onto you, you come across “Mausoleum”. It has a catchy feel to it, something that would make their live shows quite passionate. When it continues with “The Endless Wait” you see a different world of Sarke. Spoken word, female vocals. A surprise that turns out quite well. With the same serenity the band closes the album.

Looking at the whole tracklist this may very well be the most varied album of Sarke. It is one that needs some more spins because it grows on you. Above all, it is one that makes you curious for their live shows. Perhaps we’ll get to see them somewhen, until then we will give “Gastwerso” some more plays.
