Lacrimas Profundere is a German gothic rock band that has been around since 1993, founded by the brothers Oliver and Christopher Schmid. After producing seven albums it is time for number nine and a new chapter for the band. Whereas on the previous album Christopher had left the band but still wrote a few lyrics, on this album Rob Vitacca wrote the lyrics. He has proved since “Songs of the Last View” he has truly found his place in the band. Where critics said he was merely trying to copy Ville Valo or Jyrki from the 69eyes, they show with this album that Rob has found his place in the band. Making the music and the sound his. You can still hear that bands like 69eyes and HIM are his influences but has created his own vocal sound and sound more secure about it. And that is the musical development of the band, however the music may have become second place. It is not forgotten as it is the backbone of the atmosphere of their rock ‘n’ sad sound but the finishing touch comes from the vocals.
“The Gradiose Nowhere” is in the line of their sound which they call rock ‘n’ sad, Melancholic rock with a touch of the gothic dark sound. To refine their sound they have worked once again with John Fryer (HIM, Depeche Mode, Paradise Lost). The album does sound a bit like mainly HIM, but with their own twist. If you like bands as Paradise Lost, Him and 69eyes you have to give it a try. As this album has similarities, mainly because Lacrimas Profundere knows how to write catchy dark melancholic tracks.
