Mats Eilertsen is a musician from Norway making Jazz music. Collaborating with a wide range of artists before makes him a name well known and this time it is a solo album he released. It is called “Reveries and Revelations” and it is available now.
The man himself tells that in the way of creating this album he went a bit beyond his usual way of working. There is much more production to it an experiment that seems to please him. The album is quite calm and has a bit of a sinister feel to it. Organ is maybe helping to give it its eerie feel. But on the other side it also gives you a serene feeling. A moment to relax, the album really works on ones feeling that way. It’s fully instrumental, so all the focus is on the music and its atmosphere. Soundscapes that take you on a trip and have your imagination roam freely.
Mats strength is surely his timing. He know how to keep it interesting, when to tune up and to put it back again. A feeling that he tells a story with his album which is full of adventures but never rules out a moment to eat and recover.
So, most people know Mats Eilertsen as a jazz musician, but people who like the atmospherical, experimental Black Metal like for example the work of [ówt krì] or Daina Dieva may find themselves enjoying this album as well. Soundscapes in a different way, yet a similar way of thinking while composing and with an eerie atmosphere in there Mats will surprise people.
