Black/Thrash formation The Black Moriahhas their background in two other bands. Absu and Bleed The Sun. Earlier this year they came with an album. It is called “Road Agents Of The Blast Furnace” and it is available now.
The band is not the main thing, its previous release dated back to
2012, but hearing from the again raises interest. Raw compositions, that
mix up Black Death and Thrash flawlessly to create a quite eerie
result. It is quite present, the vocals are a main thing for setting
atmosphere of this release and you can’t really get around these
screeching words that you are presented with.
Looking at the rest
of the band you notice that it appears a bit chaotic. Guitars are there,
but not really given a proper spotlight, the production simply won’t
allow it. Also the rest is just served as a side dish. Digging deeper
you could find some good riffs there so it is a shame that they did not
give it a more dominant place in the sound.
Altogether this album is drawing your attention when you first listen to it. It has energetic music, powerful and with strong vocals but when listening a bit deeper you may end up a bit disappointed. It is in there, just needs someone to bring it up a little.
