Banty Holler makes Americana. Last year he released an EP and now returns with another EP called “Wired For Sound”.
Six tracks, of which only one comes
close to three minutes. Banty does not seem to need much time to
bring his work to you. As said recorded on one take. Well, that we
can tell. The six songs seem to lay in one line, much alike and
regardless the fact that they are quite short it annoyed us even
before we were halfway. Feels much like a jam but not one that is too
inspired. It is perhaps because the minimalistic approach is not
opening up for much variation. The vocals are there to tell a story
but are not giving much depth. It feels like one long braddle of
words. Guitars are a bit more interesting to listen to. Skills are
there but it simply does not warm us too much.
Most interesting
track is “Wayfarin’ Stranger” which seem to have a bit more body.
Compositionwise the best of the EP.
This release probably should not have landed on our doormat. There must be people out there who enjoy this, but it simply ain’t our cup of tea.
