Nocturnal Breed is a Norwegian formation making a combination of Black and Thrash. They have quite some years on the clock, their debut dates back to 1997. Anno 2019 they came with a brand new album called “We Only Came For The Violence.”
After the itro we are getting a straightforward, in-your-face sound on “Choke On Blood”. The band really wants to open with a statement. Sure, we waited five years since their last album so it is a welcome gesture.
Yet, the band does not rage on in this pace. On “Cannibalized By Fear” the band is taking a step back and show a different side of them. Just some spoken word on an atmospheric piece. It breaks you again with “Sharks Of The Wehrmacht” and then you understand why “Cannibalized By Fear” has ‘intro’ mentioned with it. It’s the same band, different vibe. Yet, it belongs together. The sound suits with the rest.
So the band has given us quite some variation but manages to get the whole album together in one line as well. That experimental side makes this album so nice to listen to as you don’t know what to expect next.
An absolutely fine album from these guys. Their name and reputation is strengthened with this release. Purist may find it hard, but whoever likes a whole range of things will enjoy this one!
