German formation SPY # ROW is have been playing together for many years. Now releasing a debut full length the guys are ready to show themselves to an international crowd.
What you can expect from this band is a collection of heavy pop rock songs. One catchier than the other the guys have a quite modern sound. The start of the album seems quite ok, but after a while the songs become a bit too much alike and also way too generic. Some are barely above the local band level, one of those you see once at a bandcontest and never again. They are too interchangeable. The cheesy “Forever” is probably the downpoint on the release. Was the girlfriend demanding a love song? Sorry, but other than cliché we can’t find much too say on it. Personally… I would run. At the end of the tracklist the guys pick it up a bit again.
So, they have been together twelve years… and these were the tracks that came out on a debut. That is a bit disappointing to say at least. There is no identity to be found and the songwriting would need quite some improving before a new release should be on our doormat. This one… well we probably won’t have it on our yearlist.
