Releasedate: 02-04-2010; Label: Cyclone Empire
By: Sabine van Gameren
The Italian Doom band The Foreshadowing is back with their second album. The last time we spoke with the band they were searching for a label. They found one in Cyclone Empire to release “Oionos”.
Although the band announced in the earlier linked interview that the album would be more aggressive than their debut album “Days Of Nothing” which got released in 2008, at first listening it is very clear that the band stayed true to their sound as well. Just as promised, which made me smile. The band have gone more in diversity, in some songs it is the guitars that surprise you and get you hooked, but other songs it is the vocals that bring you in ecstasy. The song “Survivors Sleep” is one example of a song that gets you on the vocal front. The whole album is more complex than the debut, a nice step forward. The Sting cover that the band played on the Summer Darkness festival in The Netherlands is also included in the album, make their version totally match with the atmosphere of the album.
People who are into doom can instantly buy the album, those who loved the first one don’t have a reason to hesitate either. A perfect following up from the debut!
