Releasedate: 02-04-2010; Label: Roadrunner Records
By: Sabine van Gameren
Slash don’t need an introduction. His guitarwork in several bands have been known all over the world. Now, after all the years in music he releases his first solo album “Slash”.
Somehow I expected the album to be an autobiography, but the album is not exactly like that. Slash got help from several vocalists, surprising names that give the album a lot of diversity. Showing his diversity with it is what seems to be a big point in here. As if it is Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop or Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas he is working with, he comes with some matching guitar work. It has a commercial attitude, to work with names like those. Trying to reach new generations and get them on board as well. Maybe catching the attention for a new band in future, or is the purpose to keep playing with all stars?
As I expected an autobiography I might also have expected some more solo’s for a guitarist bringing a solo album, I got the idea that this is more of a collection of artist he worked with some when. Nevertheless the album is interesting to listen to and although different than expected, it will certainly be on the play for a while.
