DE/VISION is a band that requires no introduction to the pop music audience. After all, this electro duo has been among the leading representatives of its genre for almost twenty years and has always nonchalantly succeeded in reinventing itself during that time, exploring the limitations of its full potential and filling the much-abused term of “crossover” with exciting new contents. This kind of break hit DE/VISION at the turn of the millennium, having produced successful, extremely likable synth pop music that had attracted the attention of major label WEA, who went on to release two albums, “Monosex” and “Void”, which laid the band’s sonic range wide open at the end of the nineties. Suddenly guitars were no longer frowned upon by purist electro heads, and a lot of experimentation went on in the wide field of electronic means of expression. After several albums they have now released “Popgefahr”.
“Popgefahr” includes catchy and deep tunes with emotional and thoughtful lyrics. Awesome and danceable music comes right at you when listening to it. “Plastic Hearth” has a very catchy melody and chorus. Dreamy elements along with electro pop definitely make this album a real “Popgefahr”. All songs are sung in English. “Until The End Of Time” is a slow and very thoughtful song, with a strong beat it even digs deeper. Throughout the album you can find a perfect mix between fast and slow songs, all are very danceable and have the typical De/Vision sounds. Steffen’s voice is going straight through to you. Electropop at its best is what you find on this album. Awesome and catchy each song gets you going along. Deep lyrics combined with great music, just the way we know it from these guys. “Popgefahr” is an awesome album. I am looking forward to their tour.
