(hed)p.e. is an American band. The band has been around for some years already as they formed in 1994 and “New World Orphans” is their seventh studio album.
The band makes music that somehow has a party atmosphere over them, but with a more serious undertone. Harcore, punk, hiphop blend together creating a sound that has the weirdness of System Of A Down reminding me also to a local band from Helsinki (Finland) called Wankers of the Zoo Crew. 24 tracks the band brings to set their statements in the world. Sometimes you have to be quick to get the message, in other times you are granted with some more time. If you feel like going into the deeper thoughts about the American politics there is plenty of feedback to find with (hed)p.e.
Musically the most outstanding are songs like “Stepping Stone” which is a bit of a step back in speed comparing it to the other songs. The rap part comes forward quite well and the song stands out for me mostly on this album, not necessarily for the message it brings but mainly for the way it is built. A little sense of humor isn’t strange for these guys and therefore the album sets grounds for a bit wider audience while I can imagine that they have quite a specific audience normally. It just isn’t music that you would like randomly. If you are an opinionated person which loves getting into discussion, this is an album for you.
