His Statue Falls – Collisions

Releasedate: 26-02-2010; Label: Redfield Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

The German band His Statue Falls brings a mix of scream, Techno and Pop. “Collisions” is their debut.

The info sheet that came with this album speaks about a unique combination that “will find copycats in the future”. I feel sorry for disappointing people, but saying that this hasn’t been done before just ain’t right. It was only a few months ago that I reviewed the album of V for Violence ( review) which had quite a similar approach.
Luckily I don’t have to make any accusations of copycats as there is still some difference between those two acts.
His Statue Falls is bringing up chart material with some catchiness in their sound. Suits in clubs as well. The songs on “Collisions” are divers, sometimes there is a wink to industrial music rather than it is to the described Techno. The music is giving enough space for different sorts of people, but this might also be their biggest trap because these genres are not close to each other and a liker of one, might be a hater of the other. But well, the album listens easily, vocals are good in whatever aspect they take you and maybe the Core parts versus the Techno is just something people have to get used to.

Openminded musicfans will adopt this band easily, but those who have their likes mainly by one specific genre will find the diversity of His Statue Falls too deterrent to get their album in their collection
