Oddland is a band from Turku, Finland. The band plays Alternative Metal and have been formed back in the year of 2003. Their Demo “Away From The Watching Eye” is the second release of the band.
The demo contains three songs. Starting off with “Above and Beyond” which starts surprising with some riffs that bring up the tension towards an outburst. It doesn’t come that soon though, some vocals at first and the outburst as you might expected doesn’t come. The music has more of an experimental edge and keeps you framed more on its riffing with the drums as a steady but often driving element in it. The progressive side that peeks around the corner does good for the curious minded music fan keeping its attention to the music never allowing it to fade away as a background sound while being busy. Although it is not the main part that attracts the attention the vocals are pleasant to hear as well. Very clean, maybe not the first thing to expect but surely a nice surprise too.
Oddland brought this demo to the world and this will open doors for them, its just a matter who picks it up first and how it will come as an advance for this band. There is potential in it and I hope a next release brings even more songs.
