The American band Year Long Distance is up for its second release. Three years after their debut came “Black Magic: All Mysteries Revealed”.
The band has a typical seventies sound that in this release stayed as confidential as it was on the first album. A couple of changes have been made though. Mostly, in the variance of the album. There are some slower songs present on the album and the whole is even more spiced up by dazzling riffs that often come to a climax in a solo and the nostalgic feeling comes up listening to them as much as you play one of the good old Led Zeppelin vinyls. The band showed their diversity as well in the mood. There are certainly parts in this album that make you think about the darkest sides of life and whether this was the intention of the guys, or not, it is something that you should not count out when seeing the side effect that listening to this record brings.
For fans that like this music there is plenty to find in the music, but is it enough to wait another three years? Hopefully the band does not let their fans wait that long anymore for a new album comes out.
