Kenos is a band from Italy. Kenos started in 1996 under another name. The first release came in 2002 and the band is currently up for their third full length album “X-Torsion”

The band gives the description of being Techno- Melodic Death Metal. A fact is that the band is quite diverse. From quiet songs to aggressive Death Metal. In the start of the album they even have a female background singer that reminded me a lot to Lotta of Beseech. It gets followed up by more aggressive music but eventually it ends with some feel good instrumental riddle. Sometimes the switches between the styles did not fall good to me, but when the first surprise is over there is a technical part in the music that does quite a trick for your ears. The band sets some solid base with the riffs giving the guitar the lead in the music. Some serious drum work takes care for the feeling of it being heavy and hard. In some other songs. The more gothic side of Kenos there is more space for the listener to adopt the sound and gives you time to catch your breath. When hearing these differences it is a bit like the band was not sure which genre they liked best, but eventually it fits together like it should, but it does take some time.
