[schema type=”review” name=”The Ferrymen – The Ferrymen” description=”Label: Frontiers Records” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2017-06-02″ ]The Ferrymen is an all-star band featuring Magnus Karlsson (from Primal Fear, Allen/Lande, Free Fall), Ronnie Romero(Lords Of Black, Rainbow) and Mike Terrana (from Rage, Masterplan and countless others). They released a self titled album at this point.
We have seen many of these all star projects passing by and one more successful than the other but always interesting to see what a certain setting of artists bring when put together and for The Ferrymen we can say we became quite enthusiastic after the first couple of songs already. Well thought compositions, with a strong body, never taken an easy or too cliché way out. This album has plenty of moments that you think this is a band that has been together for perhaps twenty years or so, it all seem to come together so well. The instruments and vocals are well balanced and compliment each other. Even when the guys go on a bit more slower modus in “Eternal Night” the band still has a powerful sound. The vocals of Romero are a main part of that, but when the guitars are taking the spotlight you can see once again the essence of the album is in having these four musicians together. For in this case 1+1+1+1 equals a big 10 from our side.
We don’t even rate albums yet we feel this one is a 10 out of 10. Everything works here. No need to go on about, simply add to cart and buy! You want this!
