Venue: Sticky Fingers (Sweden)
By: Sabine van Gameren
Göteborg’s Sticky Fingers had the band Marionette, a band from the city itself, onstage. As their MySpace told me before they are inspired by the Japanese visual-kei style and western brutal metal. When seeing the band I recognised the visual kei influences, but for me they did not take a major part of the image I had of the band.
The aggressive music is making more impression on me. The band has arranged their songs very well and what makes it interesting is that the keyboard is involved in their music. Although the role of the keys is not very dominating, it makes the music more melodic and with this they kept the attention of their audience. The more songs they played, the more people came closer to the stage.
It was clear the band had some fans with them. Standing in front row, headbanging and singing along the lyrics. The band is totally aware of it and often plays with them by singing next to them and sharing the microphone with the audience.
When the set almost got to its end, a few people dressed up as Santa Claus came in. Many people had great fun watching five or six Santa’s headbanging in the front row. Right now, the band takes a break to record an album, but after that the band will be touring again and you get your chance to see them as well. If you like the band that much that you want to be in their first video, go visit their MySpace and find out how.
