In a sold out Tivoli de Helling, many people gathered through the snow, while having major transportation issues a lot of people came in quite late and missed out on the support act.

When I entered the venue there was still 20 minutes to play for the support, but as the bar and smokers area was filled with people that did not like it and spread their opinion about them loud, I thought it was wiser to get a drink first and wait for headliner Fink to enter the stage.
Fink is a British guy, started as a DJ. Now he performing as Singer/Songwriter and in 2009 he released his third full length album. That his music not became unknown is clear, the venue is packed! Fin Greenal, the name behind Fink, came on stage and took place on his chair. He played a calm song, but after this calm start he hardly used the chair and stood up straight to perform with grace. A lot of songs of “Sort of Revolution” got played and people knew the songs quite well, listening with full attention. Some songs were played solo but mainly he got instrumental back up that gave the music a fuller sound. It is all quite intimate and the artists talked quite some with audience and show their appreciation for coming out there to see them while the snow was giving people a hard time to reach the venue. Fink played one song that, as he said, will be on his upcoming album which people welcomed with some cheering.

The music of Fink is quite dark and moody, but the artist put some extra stress on the happiness that can be heard in it as well. “It’s not all about misery”, Greenal speaks. After a little more than an hour they leave the stage but the audience did not have enough Fink yet. They came back and gave an encore, but after that it was really ending. Seeing the amount of people here and the success that his shows have it is not unthinkable that the next show in town will be in the bigger sister venue Tivoli Oudegracht when the new album is released.
