Lød formed after graduating school in Copenhagen, inspired by local post-punk. During the time, the band changed and bands like LCD Soundsystem & Kraftwerk became an inspiration. Anno 2017 the band is ready for the release of their first EP. It is called “Folder” and it is out now.
This EP is entirely sung in Danish. Not the most likely choice if the aim would be to go international, but does not mean it can’t be done. The tracks on the release seem somewhat simplistic a first. A bit Editors ambitions there with a hint of darkness in the back of it. They want to make danceable music but on some songs it takes long to get there. It is not always a straight catchiness and with too many repetitive parts it could easily turn boring. Yet, biting through it, the band can bring the vibe alive. But it is certainly a point for them to keep in consideration. It’s not like it has a hypnotic effect which could all justify it, not really getting me into the song.
Yet besides that comment there is one thing that speaks for the band. The initial idea behind it could work very well. And they are right on their way, but it is clear that this is just a first EP, there is some time needed to grow.
