The Swiss band Sideburn returns to us with a brand new release. “#eight” is exactly what you think, their album number eight. In twenty years they have given us plenty to listen to and also they have shared stage with plenty of big names. Let’s see what their album brings us.
Well, that is not much of a surprise, after twenty years of playing the guys sure do know what they are doing. Some riffs are there, catchy melodies and the songs flow easily. Some Aerosmith,, some Def Leppard maybe, all the good from the eighties is found in here. That does give the problem that it easily streams to a cliché and sure, that is certainly there. Not necessarily a bad thing. “#eight” does well during a roadtrip, a crazy saturdaynight in a bar or simply at any part. They easily grab onto you and set down a good atmosphere with their positive vibes. Top tracks on this release are “Turn Away” and “No More Room In Hell” which after the first half is already stuck in your head. So easy to singalong.
Sideburn gives us nice music with good quality skills. Sure it is really not something you have not heard before, but more of good can also be something to aim for.
