Lividity – To Desecrate and Defile

Releasedate: 20-11-2009; Label: War Anthem Records
By: Sofie Bergen

The grind core band Lividity from the USA released a new album called “To Desecrate and Defile”

The band formed in 2003 already and this album is the fourth studio album. Besides that, the band have released some live albums as well. The band seems to be all around porn in its filthiest way. Somehow it all comes down to cheap and cheesy jokes that frustrated men in a truckers place in a hidden parking lot down the roads The songs are not catching high eyes either. Riffs don’t bring me in higher atmospheres, far from originality and for the listeners sanity what’s with these samples everywhere? I have heard better than this band and the temptation of shutting it of before the record is ended sneaks in rather soon. To find some positive points in this album you sooner or later come back to that sense of humor of the band. It’s one that does not catch me, but it might be attracting people in some way.

The album also carries to cover songs by the band Blood. They kind of stand apart in the album and their interpretation of these songs made me satisfied with my choice not to turn it off earlier. It is a record that will be either loved or hated by the listener and does not leave much in between.
