Extreme Metal formation Diablerie from Finland has been around since 1998. The band has been quiet the past years, their last one dating back to 2014, but now a new album sees light. “The Catalyst vol 1: Control” will be out on 13 January 2017.

Diablerie is known for throwing in different elements of different genre’s together with a lot of electronics it has that industrial touch and they do not stray far from that in this release either. Some Black comes in as easily as you hear a more groovy side and then the electronic part is becoming the main again, it’s diverse and often surprising.
The first track is most radical in its diversity, some may be wondering a bit about the transitions, but the album goes further and the whole gets more subtle in that aspect or you grow more accustomed to it. One of the songs that stands out is “Wear My Crown”. It is straightforward and ends with some Finnish lyrics, but the following up is perhaps even more remarkable because they take it up on all levels, the intensity, the rage, “Odium Generis Humani” takes you into it deeply and during the song they have some space for the melodic part to shine and let you catch some breath as it slows a bit towards the end.

The whole album is like that, it takes you up and down, a wild rollercoaster of intensity in dark environments, skilfully going from one element at the spotlight to eachother without getting detached of the whole. Dauntless, daring, and seriously an album that shakes us up a bit. Already looking forward to vol 2.
