Expatriate is an indie rock band based in Australia. The band formed in Sydney, Australia, in 2005 and currently consists of vocalist Ben King, drummer Chris Kollias, keyboardist Damian Press and bassist David Molland. Expatriate has released one studio album and two EPs to date, with the album charting at #38 in the ARIA charts. The name is derived from what the band describe as “common themes running through each member’s life.”
After seeing them live and meeting them, all that was missing is their latest album. Some of the songs remind of Joy Division or Depeche Mode. Thoughtful and deep are the lyrics. Along with the music it will definitely get you. Most songs are very catchy and danceable. Some even get stuck in your head easily. Slow and fast songs in a perfect unison are to be found on this album. “In The Midst Of It” is an album full of emotions. The sound is sometimes more synthesized or electro, sometimes more rock. Check it out for yourself.
