[schema type=”review” name=”Malenky Slovos – Mood Swings” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-06-01″ ]Italian Malenky Slovos is presenting us music that is not too easy to define. A genre blend that is quite wide, a progressive base on which they can go into all directions. The album “Mood Swings” is out now.
“Mood Swings” is such a all-saying name for the release because to experience this album best you must allow yourself to sink deep into it and let the moods take you by the hand and guide you through the release. Often the album carries melancholy, reaching into either a bright moment or a dark one. The music slightly remind me of Editors, having that same way of bringing a passionate moment across and the vocals being slightly in that direction as well.
But what makes the whole a bit interesting is the use of that electro-acoustic trumpet which they advertise wildly in their info’s. Adding this is surely a thing here. The band took their time to put all together and came to a skillful result. Their way of shifting from that one mood into another is always quite smooth, but you feel the change anyway.
“Mood Swings” is a debut album for them, a diverse one in which they don’t seem to compromise in whatever they felt they needed in the music. A fine result, a pleasant album!
