Venue: Underground, Cologne (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

As I entered the Underground in Cologne right before the main act began, the venue seemed to have some empty space in the middle of it. But that was only because everybody was squishing up front not stepping back even a little bit. Seeing that you could have guessed a teenie band would be playing tonight and it was girls in the front row. But it wasn’t. It was mostly guys, and most of the wearing Turbojugend jackets. The band they were all waiting for was CKY:

CKY (originally known as Camp Kill Yourself and later as Camp; sometimes stylized as cKy or ckY ) is an American alternative metal band that formed in West Chester, Pennsylvania in 1998. Currently comprising vocalist and guitarist Deron Miller, guitarist and vocalist Chad I. Ginsburg, drummer Jess Margera and bassist Matt Deis, the band has released four studio albums and is closely linked with the CKY Crew and the television series Jackass, both of which feature Bam Margera (brother of drummer Jess).

Bam Margera announced CKY before they came on stage. The audience went wild and was moshing around a lot. Everybody shouted along to the songs. Deron asked their fans all the time what they wanted to hear next. The requests were also played. CKY played songs off all albums. For a song Bam joined the stage and sang a few lines. Songs they played were – amongst others – “Carver City”, Infiltrate, Destroy, Rebuild”, “96 Quite Bitter Beings”, “Flesh Into Gear”, “Escape From Hellview” and many many more. Chad asked the audience in German to make more noise, the audience did. It was a very energetic and thriving show. The band and fans were very close to each other. As encore they played “Close Yet Far”.
