When having a step-father named Cavalera it must be that you have some metal running through your veins. As a kid Richie Cavalera set his first steps on stage but it was not until 2004 when he founded his band INCITE. In the five years that they exist the band has been touring around the world with bands like Dillinger Escape Plan and Throwdown. Not surprisingly they have been touring with Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly, due to this they got noticed and started to build a fanbase. Their self released EP “Divided We Fail” sold well and now they are ready to present their debut album “The Slaughter”.
It is not weird that Richie is spoonfed by the Cavalera family, touring around the world and performing on stage must have left footprints. What that is you can hear on this debut. They attracted producer Logan Mader who worked with bands like Devildriver and Cavalera Conspiracy. It seems to me that this band is greatly taking advantage of the success of Richie his family name and contacts. The sound of the band is in line with Sepultura and Cavalera Conspiracy, an energetic mixture between hardcore and trash metal. The eleven tracks on the album show no great surprise and sound quite the same. Maybe because of the way Richie is using his voice, in a screaming way not much variation is going on. The calibre of the tracks are quite qualified for shouting along. Tracks that stand out the most are “Nothing To Fear” and “Down and Out”. INCITE delivered a nice debut, but it has nothing spectaculair to offer.
