Weezer – Raditude

Releasedate: 30-10-2009; Label: Geffen (Universal)
By: Nina Mende

Weezer is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California formed in 1992. Initially, the band consisted of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, lead guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums, backing vocals), Matt Sharp (bass, backing vocals), and Jason Cropper (rhythm guitar, backing vocals). Cropper was later replaced by Brian Bell. Matt Sharp was subsequently replaced by Mikey Welsh who was later replaced with Scott Shriner. They have released six full-length albums, five EPs, and a DVD. Weezer has sold more than eight million records in the US to date. Their seventh studio album, “Raditude”, is released on October 30, 2009.

The cover shows a dog jumping or flying through a living room. The booklet only contains credits, another picture of the dog and two band pictures. Just as simply and odd is the sound of the album. Well, maybe the simple sound is not really right. This album is very complex in styles and sounds, going through everything from electro dance hymn to punk or alternative piece up to High School rock. This new Weezer release has it all. Somehow all in all the album reminds of The Killers creativity wise. Eleven catchy songs that get stuck in your head and make you move along. “Love Is The Answer” includes an Indian bridge and some Indian sounds. “Ratitude” is a very interesting album. Go check it out.
