A Friday night is always well spent at the Batschkapp in Frankfurt. Tonight two bands were here tonight, entertaining the large audience. The average visitor was in their teenage years and totally excited to be out at a concert and nervously waiting for the show to begin. Their parents were gathering either in the back or on the sides of the venue, waiting. Then the first band entered the stage: Roam.

RoamRoam is a British pop punk band from Eastbourne. The band consists of vocalist Alex Costello, bass guitarist Matt Roskilly, drummer Charlie Pearson, guitarist and backing vocalist Alex Adam, and guitarist Sam Veness. A young band. But great at rocking.

The guys had just recently released their debut album. So they were eager to play all their brand new songs. You could see that they enjoyed playing in front of all these people. Roam moved around all over the stage, playing for and with the audience.

Thanking them between the song, telling a few stories about the band and the songs. Roam got to play for about forty minutes, getting the audience warmed up. By the end of the show, everyone in the audience was moving along to the music and cheering out loud.

During the change over, music was playing to keep the audience entertained. From Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift to Bring Me The Horizon, every song was appreciated and the kids danced and sang along. Then it was time for the main act: Against The Current.

Against The CurrentAgainst The Current is a pop rock band from New York. The guys founded the band in 2011 and grew a quite large international fanbase through their Youtube channel “againstthecurrentny”. In 2014 they released an EP, followed by a second one in 2015 and now they are soon to be releasing their debut album. The audience welcomed the New Yorker with a loud cheering and immense applause.

Female fronted rock. The singer, as well as one guitar player, were located in the front of the stage. The back of the stage was taken by another guitar player, the drummer and the bass player. All set up in one line. The drummer was on a high podium while the other two had a big banners in front of them, covering half of their bodies. The singer was taking up the entire stage while performing. Jumping around, dancing and moving to the music while singing with her strong and powerful voice. The audience was impressed and cheered very loud. They could sing along to almost every song and did so. Loudly and proudly.

Against The CurrentThe band was amazed and thanked the audience. The singer was talking to their fans after each song, telling stories, jokes and about the upcoming songs as well as the release of their album coming up. It was impressive how well known the band is already without an album out. Watching the audience interact with the band and how well they knew the songs, it seemed as if Against The Current has various albums released and have had several major tours through Europe.

It was an impressive show. The singer was absolutely energetic, not tiring even a bit during the entire show. Everyone was happy and satisfied with the music, that wandered between rock and pop. An amazing show for a Friday night. Against The Current played for a little over an hour before they released everyone into the well deserved weekend.
