Gnaw Their Tongues is a Black Metal project from The Netherlands. It all started in 2005 and “All The Dread Magnificence of Perversity” is the fourth full length release to find in a long list of releases.
The artwork of the album made me smile. Although the album does not really radiate any funny elements I could not help myself smiling about it. A kindly tease on the front that does not make sense if you have not seen the rest of it. Take the booklet and the inside of the release and you have a better impression of what the music is about.
Musically you’ll get welcomed by waves of overwhelming percussion, dramatic atmosphere and a whole lot of bullying. Gnaw Their Tongues chooses to abuse your brain, your sanity from the start on. Gnaw Their Tongue has an unique approach and therefore fairly interesting to hear. To make the experience even more realistic, there are some vocals included that just scream and moan in the background making you feel like an invisible third person in a scene. It’s bombastic here and there and actually you want to keep this for yourself. Put on headphones and close off from the rest of the world. Synths seem to slicing the thoughts of goodness and kind to make space for filth and disorder. In fact, the synths took over the place of the guitar and this makes the music colder, somehow still approachable but only for those who live open-minded. If you are willing to sacrifice yourself to this kind of audial sodomy, this one is for you.
