Echoes of Eternity is a formation that is based in the USA. The make progressive metal and they formed in 2005. Their debut came in 2007 and anno 2009 their second full length “As Shadows Burn” sees light.
Female vocals in progressive metal are far from unique lately, the Americans from Echoes of Eternity are not the typical progressive band, but not unique either. Let’s say the soft vocals of Francine Boucher do not chase the cliché-sick metal listeners away from the first moment. A little popchick which clearly did not feel like singing pop songs at all. The most recent work from Lacuna Coil can be an interesting point of reference. Judging the instrumental part of the music, might be a tough job as the sound of this band would ask for either a technical review or an atmospheric review. A technical listener would perhaps want to hear some more balls from them, feeling the sound is not aggressive enough. A more atmospheric listener will enjoy the melodic parts and might be happy that the complexity and aggression do not go too far, as if they can enjoy the vocals better. The music will probably be sung along a lot, as well at home as well at gigs.
To say how much this album is one that sticks in mind: average. This word describes the overall feeling of this album best. It ain’t the latest discovery in music, it ain’t the most promising act, but gives enough joy to listeners in this genre and perhaps they pick up a few in the neighbors’ garden as well.
