From under the Swedish flag, Diablo Swing Orchestra is performing their avant garde metal. The following up from their debut album is now out and is called “Sing Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious”.
The band formed in 2003 and from the start on, it was clear this band is different. Their style is such a different one than what to expect from any other band. Jazz, flamenco, ska and metal in one, but above all a certain sense of humor strikes the tone. In 2006 came the “The Butcher’s Ballroom” on earth and surprised the world. Now, in 2009 the second album is born and it is to say that it is swinging! The combination of various instruments, guitars and cello who together create an almost teasing, daring sound that plays with your brains. What kind of music is it? Step over this point and let yourself get overwhelmed by female vocals from Annlouice Loegdlund who improved her sound into something even more special since “The Butcher’s Ballroom”. These are perfectly combined with the male vocals by Daniel Håkansson. It feels a bit like listening to a middle age cabaret/comedy performance without it being typical folk metal. Piano in the music adds drama when the cello is quiet. Diablo Swing Orchestra works with complex compositions and never makes it easy for their selves.
Listening to this band is an unique experience and for those who are seeking something original should be wise and order the album straight away.
