The American band Audiotopsy is a new one. With former members of bands like Mudvayne and Hellyeah the surprise may be a little less to see them having their debut out via Napalm Records. It is called “Natural Causes” and is available now.
The description is there, Heavy and Melodic. Sure that says something but the band has a surprisingly commercial sound. The songs are somewhat catchy, the refrains stick in mind but also the rest of the lyrics are easy to pick up. It has all the potential to be sung along loud. As reference I had in mind: SOil. But then with more open and lighter vocals. Still a raw edge on them, Billy Keeton does not refrain from putting his own stamp on it. Here and there the tempo’s seem quite low though. Would you hope for a bit faster and spicier tempo, it is not always there and that is a shame. The album is diverse enough, but with a little more power the band would have that amazing live track that would really bring one place upside down.
We could say that the band members took from their previous acts into it, but the combination is not that much of a copy as you may have judged at first. Listen a couple times and this album is grown on you.
