Yen is a female fronted band from Germany. The band, whose members live in different places scattered between Stuttgart and Frankfurt in Germany, sings in English and knows how to rock with pure passion. They say the eyes are the mirror of the human soul. That is why Yen’s lyrics are genuine, painfully honest and deeply melancholic and attest to a lot of strength despite all their frailty. And this is not just talking, it is the truth. When watching them live you can tell, but also by simply listening to their music you can as well. Now they have released an acoustic album called “Sofa So Good”.
Even though this is an acoustic album it rocks big time. It begins with a nice Spanish guitar which you will keep on hearing throughout the entire album. As I said before, this album doesn’t seem like an acoustic album because it is very thriving and gets you going along whereas usually acoustic albums are much slower and calmer. “Plastic Moon” is a very melodic and touchy song, but all lyrics are very deep. A couch is on the album cover, the colors are held very plain. Mostly white and grey, and red for the logo. Yen’s voice adds a nice touch-up to the whole arrangements. She places the voice perfectly fitting to what she tries to express with the lyrics. Yen’ “Sofa So Good” is more than a best of acoustic album. Get it and enjoy it.
