The neo doom duo Nadja teams up with the drone band Black Boned Angel after their record company hooked them up. This dating success of 20 Buck Spin records worked for the release “Nadja & Black Boned Angel”, but not exclusive as they collaborate earlier as well. The artwork was also part of the collaboration, so the whole package is a fully deal between the two bands.
The release carries two songs, both over 20 minutes. This music is not the most approachable, for however the genre gives space for that anyway. It starts of quite ambient, fuzzy and calm. You could say, get a cup of tea first, it takes at least six minutes before the music starts making an impact. But then again, don’t! Your glass might burst when the overwhelming doom comes in. This holds on to the end.
Then, the second song has a slightly more open structure. A bit of a relief after the ongoing drone in the first song. They seemed to be a bit more playful in this song. It’s a pity that the songs are a bit too long, it’s ask too much from a open minded, but not regular drone listener and therefore the exclude a certain amount of listeners.
