15-08-2014 Combichrist

Supports: Aesthetic Perfection; Venue: Das Bett, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Tonight Combichrist was playing at Das Bett in Frankfurt. Sold out house this Friday night. The fans were lining up to get in way before doors opened. Everybody was excited to see Combichrist again.

Aesthetic PerfectionAs the doors finally opened, everyone rushed in to catch a good spot. The little stage was packed with equipment. As the lights went off we knew why: Aesthetic Perfection were opening tonight. Not many of today’s visitors knew Aesthetic Perfection or have seen them live before. Unfortunately there was not much room on stage for Daniel, the singer, to dance and perform like he is used to. But he made the best out of it. Same for the drummer. His drum set was pretty close to the front corner of the stage. Some fans got so excited that they reached for him. The keyboarder had quite some space in his corner though. The Californian trio played a best of their songs. The singer tried to dance around on stage as much as possible. Aesthetic Perfection played for about forty minutes and convinced the audience of them. The cheering grew louder after each song and they all began dancing along. Everyone in the venue was having a good time, celebrating the night.

Aesthetic Perfection

combichristAfter a short change over Combichrist came on stage. The cheering and excitement was intense. Combichrist also has a guitar player along with the bass player now, but only one drummer. A slight change in the band set up but quite a change in how they sound. The music is not as electronic anymore but tends to go towards metal with the guitar and bass. Their current album is called “We Love You”. So they did play quite some songs off that album. but also quite some old hits like “This Shit Will Fuck You Up”, “Blut Royale” and more. The singer Andy moved around on stage, playing with the audience, singing and shouting while the drummer Joe Letz went insane behind the drums. The bass player and guitar player moved around quite a lot playing with the audience as well. It was like a big family finally being reunited, playing games. The audience loved it. For more than ninety minutes Combichrist performed on stage, getting everyone to go along and heat up the venue. The air got all damp from the sweat. It was a very intense night but definitely worth the while. Simply amazing. A must see.
