Radiance – … And The Night Comes Down

Releasedate: 04-06-2009
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Italian band Radiance released their demo “…And The Nigth Comes Down”. Their music is to describe at as progressive metal, but with a heavy metal attitude.

The band formed in 2004. The basis of their sound is the typical 80’s metal sound. This element makes the highly needed difference in their genre. Sniping guitars riffs and a drum portion that opens your ears. Vocal wise the band is not the strongest and perhaps the harmony with the instruments is sometimes a little lost, but the concept of this band brings an interesting perspective. Also different from what people might expect as soon as they hear a couple of seconds of their sound, is the fact that they do not use keyboards. This gives a more aggressive effect which is surely a positive point.
Altogether this band sticks out positively, but there is some work needed to become that decisive band that breaks through worldwide.
Some stress on the vocals to match the instruments better and perhaps the instruments could do a half step back to give vocalist Karim Baldanza some space to do so. The instruments are not always in balance. Guitars are dominant, drums run after them. If they would turn it down a slightly bit then bass and vocals would catch up and then there is a band that would be able to produce some really interesting music.

Karin Baldanza – Vocals
Federica Viola – Guitars
Fabio Accardo – Bass guitars
Elio Lao – Drums
