Sunday night in Frankfurt. The place to be for the night, if not out celebrating carnival and you were into electronic music, was Das Bett. Aesthetic Perfection and Faderhead were hitting town tonight while being on their European tour. Both bands have new albums released which they are now performing live on stage and infecting the people with their music.
The venue was very crowded with Gothic and electro fans. Most were dressed in black, some wore band shirts of electro bands. Opening up for these two acts was a Spanish act called Terrolokaust. Consisting of three guys they warmed up the audience. Surprisingly well I must say. The singer had a strong and impressive voice which he knew to use well with the music. The songs the guys played was very catchy and thriving so that everyone in the audience simply had to dance along to the music. Somewhere between electro and rock Terrolokaust knew exactly how to please the crowd. Moving around and animating the audience everyone was having a good time.
Terrolokaust was a real surprise and I will keep my eyes and ears open for these guys. And I am sure quite some more people of the audience will do so to. The Spanish guys closed their set with a cover by Korn performed in their own style which sounded really good as well.
Up next was Aesthetic Perfection. It seemed like the three boys were in a very good mood tonight because they entered the stage with a smile. The singer was dancing around on stage, playing with the audience and singing the songs with a whole lot of passion. The keyboarder rocked his mind out behind the keyboard, jumping around and climbing around on the stand. The drummer drummed his mind out, playing in socks and banging his head like there was no tomorrow.
The audience had a whole lot of fun. So did the band. The songs were totally catchy. Aesthetic Perfection played old and new songs including all their hits like “The Ones”, “Antibody” and many more. The sound was very clear and strong, the performance absolutely powerful and energetic and the guys made quite some fun on stage. Aesthetic Perfection is always a lot of fun to see live. Make sure to check them out when they hit your town.
Last band of the night was the German electro project Faderhead. Tonight they were only three. The singer wore the same black clothes, shades and hairdo as usual. The guys seemed a little tired as their performance was not as energetic as it was as they performed at Etropolis Festival. Faderhead had the screen in the background playing videos and showing lyrics as well as two guys on the samples. The singer was running up and down on stage, talking to the audience a whole lot, telling stories about his songs and life. The audience found this quite funny.
The performance lacked though as it was constantly interrupted and it seemed like the singer is wasting some time with the talking. The music was quite emotionless which made the performance sterile. This might also be the reason why some people left early or went out for a smoke during the show. Faderhead did not have their best performance. Maybe next time again, because they can be great performers. That’s for sure. Faderhead played all their hits including some very old songs and some brand new material. Most of the audience danced along to the music. All in all it was a great Sunday night.
