Supports: Viktor & The Blood; Venue: Schlachthof, Wiesbaden (Germany)
By: Nina Mende
Two former members of Sugarplum Fairy and one former drummer for Mando Diao make for one kick ass band called Viktor & The Blood. And these guys were opening up for The Sounds tonight.
It was a Wednesday night in Wiesbaden, so the venue was not too crowded, since everybody had to work the next day. But the guys of Viktor & The Blood still did a good job in warming up the crowd. With almost thirty minutes of show time the Swedish guys gave us a quick peak of some of their best songs. The guys of Viktor & The Blood were all dressed in suite and tie. Focused on their instrument they did not move around too much. Except for the singer. He was walking back and forth on stage, talking to the audience in between songs and announcing the next. A nicely spent thirty minutes. |
As The Sounds entered the stage, the audience went crazy. Starting off with “Queen Of Apology” everyone was going wild and danced along instantly. The band was rocking big time on stage. The singer all dressed in a black dress and wearing heels was jumping around on stage as well.
Sometimes she climbed up onto the drums and sat down there. The Swedes had a blast and so did the audience. The first part of their set was spiced with catchy and fast songs you could dance along to, jump and shout.
The second half was calmer with newer songs. The Sounds played a set of about ninety minutes. A good mix of old and new songs. In between they talked to the audience, telling stories about their fifteen years of band history or expressing their love to their fans. The audience truly appreciated it. After the main set The Sounds came back with an encore of two songs, closing the night with “Hope You’re Happy Now”. What a wonderful Wednesday night.
