Avatar is currently on the road with Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch. In Amsterdam they entered the stage of Ziggo Dome to perform.

The joker is around, Johannes on vocals is the one who presents himself as such. Not that he is joking around all the time, but his mimics and movements combined with the grimed face surely do remember you to it. The last release from these guys dates back to early 2012, when the “Black Waltz” album got released. The band starts with “Torn Apart” a song that gives them a chance to profile themselves right away and it seems like their acts and music come together in such a way that it draws the attention of the audience. A little hesitating though, it takes the band a couple of tracks before they get some response of them.

With ”Ready For The Ride” the band has gotten everyone in the right mood and from that point on you start to get to know the individual band members a little better. Some time to shine for all of them and not the focus on frontman Johannes only. The real spectacle comes when the guys close their set with the song “Smells Like A Freakshow” in which they basically summarize what they are about. It’s more than music, but theatre does not take over from the music which speaks for them. For a longer show the possibilities are endless but for a bit shorter set like tonight this was just what was needed.
