Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a New York City-based alternative rock band. The band consists of lead singer Karen O, drummer Brian Chase, and guitarist Nick Zinner. In 2000 they formed a trio, and were later joined by second guitarist Imaad Wasif in 2006 for touring purposes. According to an interview that aired during the ABC network’s Live from Central Park SummerStage series, the band’s name was taken from modern New York City vernacular. The band has recorded three studio albums; the first, Fever to Tell, was released in 2003. The second, Show Your Bones, was released in 2006 and was named the second best album of the year by NME. Their third studio album, “It’s Blitz!”, was released on March 31, 2009 in the USA and on April 6, 2009 in the rest of the world.
This album is a very poppy album with a female singer, of course. The songs are very melodic. “Runaway” features orchestra sounds. Some songs’ lyrics are very deep and emotional, not to say all song’s lyrics. Other songs animate to dream with their fairytale like melodies. “Little Shadow” is a very slow and touchy song, this one makes you think and wonder a little bit. It gets you in a sort of psychedelic stage, like a dream journey out of your body and mind. Somehow listening it this album takes you and your thoughts very far away from here and now, on a road through nothingness, the absence of mind, maybe a sort of Nirvana. So go check it out. It’s worth giving it a try.
