Aiden is an American post-hardcore band from Seattle, Washington that formed in the spring of 2003. They took their name from the character in the movie The Ring, although with a different spelling with an ‘e’ instead of an ‘a’. The current members are WiL Francis (vocals, guitar, piano, lyrics), Jake Davison (drums), Nick Wiggins (bass), and Angel Ibarra (lead guitar). WiL originally played bass but took over lead vocals when the original singer left. They have now their fourth studio album released called “Knives”.
Aiden is a very punky band, the music makes you wanting to dance and jump along. The album is very energetic and powerful and also spreads energy. The song “Empire” is great to sing along and get stuck in your head, also very suitable for airplay. The riffs and beats are quite fast. The singer has a punk voice which is sometimes a little smoky. The music reminds of bands like Anti-Flag, My Chemical Romance or even Rancid. Some of the riffs are extremely catchy and danceable. The lyrics are interesting to listen to. Aiden has a great sound, free spirited and free minded. I really want to see them live now. The hidden track is quite hidden, so don’t switch your player off before it really says the album is done. It is worth waiting.
