Pollination organizes band nights in the Netherlands, today two bands were playing in ACU, Utrecht: Bodypolitics and Mescaliner.
Bodypolitics were the first band to enter the stage, with plenty people that came out to see them on this Wednesday evening a cosy set was guaranteed. The band has a relaxed and electronic set up, Some songs with keys, some are more guitar driven but all are hold together with a warm voice that makes you feel comfortable right away. The music brings positive vibes which sometimes feel a bit eclectic with the visual side of the band. The band released a debut album in April of this year: “The Space Of A Jump” of which they played songs, some as small as they are and others are more brought with more show. The audience watches it in silence showing their appreciation at the end.
Mescaliner is a band coming from the south of the country. They are making Post Rock and gave some acte de présence on pollination events before. In darkness with not much more back up than the lights from their video art the band starts it off. Earlier this year the band released an album called “Willow Spree” which is their second full length. The songs tend to be a bit longer , taking the time to work around, but sometimes just not bringing a true highlight. In other tracks it does work but it may need a bit more careful planning with the set as at the end of the set it tend to feel like a repeat. The band surely has its great moment especially when they take the tempo up and go into more intensity, which is exactly when they reach their audience best.
