28-06-2012 Flogging Molly

Venue: Batschkapp, Frankfurt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Sold out house, way in advance, three support bands: Flogging Molly is on tour and is hitting the Batschkapp as well. Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Celtic punk band from Los Angeles, California, signed to their own record label, Borstal Beat Records.

Batschkapp was sold out way in advance. Fans were gathering outside already long before doors opened. Four bands were about to play. Originally Riverboat Gamblers had been one of them. Due to illness they could not come, but we still had Radio Havanna, Radio Dead Ones and The Bronx playing. The first band started with full speed and warmed up the audience, preparing them for what was yet to come. The air was heating up during the second act and the sweat as well as the beer began dripping. As The Bronx entered the stage, the audience was excited already. Moshing and moving along to the fast music. The band on stage kicking ass and keeping the audience moving.

As Flogging Molly entered the stage, the audience went wild. Singing along to all songs, old and new. Even songs off the new album “Speed Of Darkness” were sung along by fans as if the songs had always existed. Every one was dancing or at least swaying along. The band spread positive vibes and every one had a great time. The band moved around on stage and you could tell the music was coming from their hearts and souls. Passionate as the band played it, the fans loved it. The air was getting hotter and steamier. Two hours of Flogging Molly would get the venue to rain from the ceiling. The band talked to the audience as if they were family and looked at them as if they all were close friends for ages. It felt like family. Familiarity was filling the room. Two hours of set included old and new songs, familiarities, dancing and singing. A good time on a good night out. Flogging Molly is always a pleasure to see.
