Stam1na is a Finnish metal band, currently touring around their homecountry to promote their latest album, “Nocebo” which was recently released. Last Saturday their tour brought them in Salo.
Rockin Hood is packed long before the gig starts, some merchandise t-shirts can be seen already on some of the people in the venue, the area around the stage starts to get more and more crowded: it’s definitely time for Stam1na.
Stam1na are no stranger to the Finnish stages, where their appearances have made them gain quite a name in the metal scene of the country, gradually showing they’re one of those bands you can bet your pants that will do a blast of a show. The audience seems to know that well, reason why their enthusiasm gets hearable from the first song “Kadonneet Kolme Sanaa” already. It’s immediately noticeable that, besides the huge amount of energy the band spreads, and mutually receives from the audience, the winning formula of their live is also the great equality within the band itself. Every member does his part in setting up the atmosphere, a mix of insane headbanging and some talking in between the songs where no one gets over the other. The setlist flows smoothly, but still the band has a surprise for the lucky attendants of tonight’s show: Perttu Kivilaakso from Apocalyptica joins for the last four songs of the set. Unfortunately his cello doesn’t get that much relevance on the overall sound, but his presence certainly does, almost as if he was no guest but rather a full-fledged band member. That was certainly a great ending of a show which has in all likelihood satisfied everyone.
