Iron fire is a Danish band that was founded back in 1995. The mastermind of the band is Martin Steene. He lived through some ups and downs since the existence of Iron Fire until present day. In 2006 Iron Fire released their album “Revenge” which is an epic tale like “Conan the Barbarian”, showing the world that the band knows how to fight back and some revenge on those who turned their back on the band.
After “Blade of the Triumph” it is now time for a new CD “To the Grave” which took a dark turn with gloomy lyrics and faster songs. Although the lyrics became more gloomy, the choruses are quite catchy and stick to your mind like glue. They show nothing new, lyrics about battles and Odin and art work on their cover in the same style.
It is a nice power metal album, nothing wrong with it but I think it is very personal whether you like the voice of Martin Steene. If you do, this album is a good one, the drums are nicely present and make you nod your head. Tracks that stand out are “To the Grave”, “Cover the Sun” and “Hail to Odin”. “March of the Immortals” has a very nice intro and has catchy choruses, which will stick to your mind and you are ready to sing along after you heard it. The same counts for “The Kingdom”. Overall it is a nice and well produced album. Tommy Hansen added a rougher and rawer edge to the album’s sounds.
